Back in the early / mid 90s, loads of good bands were signed and then promply dropped by major labels. Boston band The Dirt Merchants were one of these and never got to release their major label debut, "The Speed At Which You Speak" due to Epic shelving the record. It seems insane to think that they'd spend money recording a bands album and then just not release it. Anyway, the band have put all their back catalog up on their website, they sound like a cross between PJ Harvey / Madder Rose or Liz Phair etc...

The DMs recently released their "Swiss Bank EP" on itunes and other digital services.
Epic hasn't even digitally released the band's first album "Scarfied" although they've (oddly) made a video available for sale. I've heard rumors that Epic/Sony is finally going to make the Scarfied album available digitally.
